Each year, PTG celebrates our previous year and kicks off our current year in an annual “Kick Off” Party. It’s a great time to reflect on the previous year while also setting our sights on how best to serve our customers and our team members in the upcoming year.
Traditionally, we have given away a few awards to recognize those who really went above and beyond in their role. I wanted to take a few moments to share our award winners for 2016 with you. If you see them or talk to them on the phone, please tell them congratulations!

CEO MVP Award
Allen Brooks
This award goes to any team member who performed exceptionally well, as viewed by me. To win this award, you have to have the ‘want to’, ‘can do’ and ‘gets it’ that it takes to be a PTG team member, and make a significant contribution to the team.
Allen Brooks, who has been with PTG for just over a year, won the CEO MVP Award. Allen is an extremely easy going person, but has the determination to see anything through. He was instrumental in rolling out our customer facing webstore for Microsoft Cloud Services, wrote some really cool applications to help us monitor Azure activity, and also kept us all laughing in the office. (Don’t tell Allen, but I really love him.)
Rookie of the Year Award
Matt Snider
We are always working to grow our team. Sometimes, we can be a pretty difficult bunch to work with as we are all very demanding. This award goes to any team member who has been with the team for less than a year and has really embraced the PTG Fundamentals.
Matt Snider, one of our engineer’s in Charleston, won this year’s Rookie of the Year Award. There are two major factors playing into this decision. The first is Matt’s ability to ‘adapt’ his style based on the customer’s needs. He can be extremely outgoing and talkative or he can just put his head down and get the job done. Secondly, Matt has always been quick to pick up any challenge thrown at him. My prediction is that he will be a strong contender for next year’s Engineer of the Year Award!
Engineer of the Year Award
Andrew Atkins
This award goes to the engineer on the team that has the best utilization numbers and the highest customer satisfaction numbers. This was a very tight race this year as we had three team members in 2nd place who were within a single point of the award winner.
Andrew Atkins, who has been with PTG since 2008, won this year’s Engineer of the Year Award. Not only did he have the highest CSAT and utilization numbers, but Andrew also earned several key certifications in 2016. This was a well-deserved award!
Intern of the Year
Hope Rickerd
This is the first year we’ve awarded Intern of the Year, partially because we haven’t had very many interns in the past. But this year, not only did we have a few interns, we had one who stood out so much that we created this award.
Hope Rickerd won the Intern of the Year award. Hope came to PTG last summer an intern on our Services team. She jumped right in and quickly became a valuable part of the team – so valuable that when her internship was supposed to end, we kept her on as a part time help desk engineer while she finishes college. We are hoping that Hope will be converting to a full time employee after graduation.
Just Do It Award
Casey Manzi
The Just Do It Award is my favorite award. This award is voted on quarterly by all PTG employees. The quarterly award recognizes any team member who ‘Just Got It Done’ in that quarter. At the end of the year, the quarterly winners go into a ‘run off’ where we vote again to recognize the team member who should be recognized for the entire year.
Casey Manzi won the Just Do It Award for 2016. Casey is our dispatcher and is responsible for making sure that every ticket makes it to the right level of engineer, that the engineers are onsite (or call) when they are supposed to, and organizes our daily schedule. Casey did an excellent job of that this year and definitely deserved to be the award winner.
